Origins is the mod behind the SMP format half of YouTube plays: on first join, every player picks an origin — Elytrian, Merling, Blazeborn, Phantom — with genuine powers and genuine handicaps. A Merling needs water towers through the base; an Avian can't eat meat. Those constraints force the role-play and the politics.
It's server-light (powers are rules, not machines), so this is one of the cheapest SMP formats to host well — the money goes into player slots, not RAM.
One click pins Fabric with Origins staged. Name it, pick a plan, create.
Share your join address. Each player picks their origin on first join — no server config involved.
Most Origins SMPs add Simple Voice Chat for proximity voice — it's one click in the Mods tab.
The create button sets up Fabric 1.21.1 — the newest release both Origins and our catalog support. You can change it later in your server settings.
3 GB is our honest sizing for Origins. Start here — upgrading later is one click and your world comes with you.
3 GB runs Origins itself easily — its powers are lightweight rules, not world machinery. Size up only for player count (10+ concurrent) or a bigger mod list.
By default an origin is picked once. As the server owner you can grant a new choice with the /origin command from the live console — useful when someone regrets picking Phantom.
Yes — Origins SMPs typically layer proximity voice (Simple Voice Chat) and extra origin packs, all installable from the Mods tab with dependencies resolved automatically.
Name it, pick a plan, and Origins installs itself. That is the whole setup.
